— Our Story

Welcoming. Inclusive. Supportive.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ) people face greater health threats and are at greater risk of negative health outcomes than their heterosexual peers. Providing health care to the LGBTQ population requires special attention, experience, compassion and skill.

Health care to the LGBTQ population

Alliance’s LGBTQ Health Services group has been at the forefront of improving the health and wellbeing of the LGBTQ population in an environment that is friendly, non-judgmental and culturally competent.

  • Our dedicated team of physicians, nurse practitioners and support staff are specially trained and passionately committed to meeting the special health care needs of LGBTQ people.
  • We work in partnership with LGBTQ organizations, agencies and allies to assist our patients in accessing the highest quality care for the best possible outcomes.
  • Our comprehensive portfolio of health, referral and educational services are available to all, regardless of one’s ability to pay or level of insurance coverage.

LGBTQ health equity

Alliance is relentless in our promotion of LGBTQ health equity and access to care, which may include:

  • Appropriately inquiring about and being supportive of a patient’s sexual orientation to enhance the patient-provider interaction and regular use of care.
  • Curbing human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) with interventions that work.
  • Providing supportive social services to reduce suicide and homelessness risk among youth.
