Joyce Ida Tolliver-Adams

Ms. Adams was a Jersey City native and a daughter that did good with her successful, rewarding career at Bell Labs and AT&T. She never lost sight of Jersey City, and Hudson County. We have proudly worked alongside Ms. Adams to serve our Hudson County residents, for over fifty years. She was very involved in working to ensure the healthy growth and wellbeing of her much-loved Jersey City, the Hudson County community, ever since her first volunteer project with the YWCA over sixty years ago.

She worked tirelessly with the Hudson County Cancer Coalition as a strong cancer research and education advocate, Hoboken Family Planning, and the NJ Cancer Education & Early Detection program.

Alongside being the Chair of Alliance’s Board of Trustees, Ms. Adams was a member of many local community organizations and sat on several community service committees which included the Susan G. Koeman for the Cure Breast Cancer Task Force, the Bergen Hudson Chronic Disease Coalition, and was the Chair of the Hudson County Community College Nursing Program Advisory Committee.

To say she was intelligent, commendable, dedicated to service, hard-working, kind-hearted and will be absolutely missed by all who loved, knew, and worked with her, would be an understatement. Joyce Tolliver Adams epitomized what it meant to lead by example. She was a vital resource and served an integral role in community service as Alliance’s champion leader and within our Hudson County community as an incredible neighbor.
